The Nature Run Amok Movie
Wellington > 09

After lavishing a potplant with an awful lot of love, the fact that said plant appears to be moving drives our lead to paranoia and madness. Never mind that they had previously shared a bed. Whilst the plain apartment setting did hold this back a lot from being an absolute winner, it was cleanly shot and the excellent sound design combined with a terrific lead performance meant it was engaging and fun. It got thoroughly deserved audience laughs and sold a very simplistic idea very well.

I thought this film was really quite beautiful, and well executed. The concept is excellent, and though some aspects (like the plant moving on the sill) were perhaps a bit contrived, and the film lacked a little meaning, with the help of an INCREDIBLE ambient soundtrack the film really pulled itself together. Amazing, such effective creation of tension. Everyone needs their own Japanese peace lily.
