This film would be so good if the voiceover match wasn't so cringeworthy! You guys didn't actually have to have good singing for the music. I feel like it would have been funnier if the singing was shit, even though their voices were actually gorgeous (Like seriously. Y'all should go on X Factor.) Even though the storyline and lyrics were genius, the bad voiceover kind of distracted me from it. Also, it should have been shorter.
I felt like this film relied on the comedy of a man dressed as a woman. While it did get lots of laugh, I think this whole thing had so much promise but settled too quickly for cheap laughs. The acting was good, and the voices were very amazing! The music was well composed and written. I think this was obviously made by a talented group.
Great intro. The film started with a really strong song at the start. Nice camera work and cinematography, editing and sound. It was visually one of the better looking films in the heat. There were some funny moments and the film looked like it was going to be really strong, but unfortunately it became a bit too much the same throughout. I feel it was shot too much in the one location. The songs and singing were strong with funny moments but the lack of a solid storyline let it down. Difficult genre though.
Had potential but was way too repetitive. Lacked something original. Not as funny as it could've been. Although, it was filmed well.
I don't understand all the negativity on here so far! By far one of the most entertaining films in this heat.
What I liked: Great music guys, I was humming your tracks while I waited between heats, The story was cute and quite nice to watch. good performances too, I didn't pick up on the Boy playing Girl thing for way longer than I would care to admit (it was a long night) so kudos to that actor!
What to work on for next year: If you end up with musical again then work on that Sync! otherwise a tighter edit would have improved the overall pace of the film.
Guy meets girl; she's a bit of an internet sensation, YOLO Sway 69. Through song they try and hook up.
This had good touches of humour and some great singing. The last song, "If Only" was quite beautiful. However, there were obvious syncing issues, a sameness about the music and by using the single location and technique of cutting back and forth or circling the actors with the camera it all became a bit repetitive. Also, couldn't you have a found a actress? He did a fair job but if you're going to go ahead with a story you need to get your cast right or do something else!
Musical is something different; well done for not bailing or doing one of the softer options! (when I drew Musical there was no back-up choice, things were tougher in the old days)
Are you serious, this movie was great! OK a bit of the synching was out but the music was first class and it was funny as. I liked the way the whole thing was done with music. Well done team, a good effort at the hardest genre
