Strong start to the heat with this film. Funny and nicely shot with some great cut-aways. Built nicely. I felt that the Christmas element could have been more central, but the end payoff was there.
I made this account solely so I could review this film. 'The Perfect Gift' was a brilliant and original story that was elegantly completed at the end. The Christmas genre wasn't heavily included, despite that I think it was a well executed tale. Hilarious too!! Well done.
I really enjoyed this film, it's funny, nicely paced, and well shot. I think the Christmas element could be brought in earlier during the film before presenting it at the end, because it didn't feel like a Christmas film, however I do get the frustration and effort that goes into getting that perfect gift which normally happens when Christmas shopping. Well done :) Loved it, and it's a strong start to the heat.
Your film had a great concept and was really well executed, it was simple and enjoyable to watch. I would have liked the ending to be a little clearer and the Christmas genre to be Incorporated more, or its incorporation to be clearer. Definitely one of the best films I saw, you managed to make a really original interesting film out of a really hard genre.
This was a good original film. I particularly liked the dumping of the "garbage" shots. I think they needed to cut the candidates sequence quite a few beats earlier, it was really good but then it began to drag but that's a small criticism as this film looked like a lot of work for the editor and they did some very good work. The mystery built up to a good reveal, I liked the full body wrapped in Christmas paper, nice image to finish with. Bravo.
OH MAN DOG AND WOLF I REALLY LOVED THIS FILM YOU HAD A PITCH PERFECT LITTLE DITTY HERE. FROM THE KUBRICK-INSPIRED OMINOUS DSRL TO THE REALLY FANTASTIC USE OF SMASH CUTS IT WAS QUITE CLEAR THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO CRAFT SOLID CINEMA. TICKED A LOT OF THE RIGHT BOXES FOR ME ABOUT 48HOURS - NO CHEWING THE FAT WAKING UP IN A BEDROOM OR BRUSHING TEETH THE ATTENTION WAS GRABBED STRAIGHT AWAY WITH THE PERPLEXING INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND THEN THAT FIRST ALARM SOUND OH BOY! FOR THOSE COMPLAINING THIS ISN'T A CHRISTMAS FILM THEY MISSED THE POINT OF THE THEME WHICH WAS REALLY CLEVERLY LINKED TO THE TEAM'S GENRE. AND EXCELLENT WORK BY REAGAN MORRIS IN HIS GARBAGE DUMPING CAMERO. LEAD ACTRESS EXCEPTIONAL.
