Lol, Wut? Was my first and pretty much only reaction after watching this animated short. It made no sense, it seemed to be on drugs, but it made me and a lot of other people giggle, so that can't be a bad thing.
Great way to start the heats. I honestly had no idea what was going on, or where the story was going, but this stop motion animation was funny and entertaining.
Whoah. What a film to open the heat... honestly I'm not sure what happened in this oh-so-short short film. There was a plasticine cat playing chess... and some kind of time travel website that wouldn't let you take car keys (?) back with you. Trippy, hard to hear, impossible to understand. But hilarious, in it's own way. Set up a great vibe for the rest of the heat too.
Film name is "Space Cat Debt"
A decent start to the heats, animation in 48 Hours is always an impressive extra challenge. This particular short was set in 2087 and featured craaaaaazy drug-induced psychedelic scenes. Unfortunately these didn't help the flow, hard to know what the storyline was, and for an animation the sound was inexplicably poor. Team obviously put in the work but I think a bit more planning on the Friday night would have gone a long way.
This film was preceded by a very wierd incoherent speech by it's creator, the highlight overall. What followed was a short, storyless ugly animation spanning only long enough to deliver the required elements. I felt this entry was rude to everyone who actually tried with their films this year.
